Robert Taylor is a self-taught Oklahoma artist of Native American descent whose symbolic paintings challenge the notion that Indian art should adhere to any one style. His work is best known for his usage of iconic symbols and manipulation of proportion seen often in the hands and feet.
"My art reflects my own spiritual journey and it gives me the ability to make peace with the world. Being a self-taught artist my influences, as well as inspiring souls, are many; Susan Leggett, Mallory Taylor, Virgil and Emma Hughes, Wallace Hughes, Doris Littrell, Mirac Creepingbear, Oscar Howe, Paul Pletka, and John Biggers are but a few I have been honored by."
