Michael Blaiss M.D.


Michael S. Blaiss, MD is a pediatric and adult allergist widely recognized as an international thought leader in the field of allergy treatment. He is a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics and Medicine at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center in Memphis and has a private practice in Memphis at Allergy and Asthma Care. Dr. Blaiss clinical focus is on allergies and allergic disorders, especially dealing with quality of life and economic issues. He has been named to the list Best Doctors in America from 1999-2008.

Dr. Blaiss has published more than 100 scientific articles and presented at more than 300 meetings and seminars throughout the world on such topics as allergic rhinitis, asthma, socioeconomic subjects in allergy and asthma, and issues in compliance and adherence.

Dr. Blaiss has written for several peer-reviewed journals, including Journal of Pediatrics, Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, and JAMA, as well as several allergy textbooks. He has co-edited one text, Atlas of Allergic Diseases. In addition, he is a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Asthma and Allergy and Asthma Proceedings.

Dr. Blaiss is a fellow of the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology and the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology. He serves on the Board of Directors for the American Board of Allergy and Clinical Immunology and is a Past President of the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology.

He received his medical degree from the University of Tennessee Center for Health Sciences. After completing his residency at Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center, he completed a fellowship in allergy/immunology at Ochsner Medical Foundation in New Orleans, Louisiana.
