Business Game Changers Radio with Sarah Westall: Real Time Worldwide Analysis of Events and Safety Data for Travelers, Businesses, and Governments is Now PossibleWith military conflicts, drug wars, and terrorist activities seeming to be constant and growing around the world, where is it safe to travel? Is the world really as dangerous as the media makes us feel it is? One company, GeoSure Global, is on a mission to provide answers to all of these questions about every city and many neighborhoods in the world by rating safety measures in real time. They are literally gathering, organizing, and analyzing data from sources all over the world including WHO, UN, CDC, Interpol, human rights organizations, city and country crime statistics, plus propriety data feeds, specialized social networking sources, and more. Their extensive database will be the first of it’s kind and will shed light on the state of the world, through crowdsourcing, in real time. It will be a treasure trove of information for travelers, media services, governments, and businesses.

There has never been a time in history where humans have the ability to travel, communicate, and experience other cultures and lands all over the world like we do today. The world is becoming a much smaller place and it makes it an exciting time to be alive. However, all of this information and accessibility has created a clash of cultures and fear around the world. The press (being fearful too) often are flaming the fire and increasing the fear. Some of this is valid, but much of it is not. For example, to maintain safety, it is not necessary to avoid all of Africa when only small parts of western Africa has high Ebola threats or avoiding all of Kenya due to security breaches near the Somalian border. Other than missing out on the opportunity to visit a perfectly safe region of the world, the problem with incorrect assumptions and blanket safety warnings by government officials on travel is the devastating effect those exaggerated assumptions can have on the local economies. Many countries rely heavily on tourism and incorrect assumptions can throw a region into an economic depression.

Another important consideration to realize is that safety is not always straightforward. What constitutes for a safe environment may change from neighborhood to neighborhood, time of day, gender, and many other factors. To account for this, GeoSure Global has created six categories of safety at the city level and soon for the neighborhood level throughout the world, these are: overall, physical harm, theft, basic freedoms, disease & medical and women’s safety.

This episode of Business Game Changers welcomes the CEO of GeoSure Global, Michael Becker, to share what this massive data trove will be used for and how everyone can benefit from it’s information.
