Martha Murphy


Martha Murphy has had cervical dystonia that affects her neck and shoulder for 36 years. It took 12 years for her to be correctly diagnosed. She started the Dystonia Support & Advocacy Group of San Diego County in 1987 and remains the groups leader. Martha also works part-time for the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation as their Brain Bank Liaison and serves as their Pacific/Northwest Regional Coordinator. In addition, she has been volunteering at the Info. Desk at Alvarado Hospital since 1995. She has a B.A. in Sociology and a Minor in Journalism from SDSU.
