Voices of Women with Host Kris Steinnes: Vicki Noble - Remembering Matriarchy

Matriarchy is a word I used in my books Motherpeace 1983 and Shakti Woman 1991 to discuss the ancient Goddess cultures that existed around the world during the time we call prehistory before his story. Anthropologists argued that there were no living matriarchal cultures, and so we couldn't say there ever had been any. However, now an international Matriarchal Studies movement has shown the world that there are many living matriarchal cultures displaying gender egalitarianism, consensus decision making, a lack of classism and other hierarchies, and whose sexual and relationship behaviors are a model for all of us affectionate, egalitarian, psychologically healthy, and free.
